Who are Caregivers?
Caregivers (carers, care-partners) are currently the largest care workforce. Caregiver is defined as any person who takes on an unpaid caring role, providing health, social, emotional, and practical support for people with mental or physical illness, disability, or frailty from aging. This can be young siblings, family members, neighbors or anyone that takes a vital role in the support of another person.
Why Educate Professionals and Healthcare Providers About Caregivers?

Caregivers are often the people who know the routines, medication and situations of the person they care for. The information a caregiver can offer can be valuable and Health providers rely heavily on caregivers to carry out care plans and discharge recommendations, reduce length of hospitalizations, reduce emergency and acute care wait times.
Parent's Survival Resource & Connection believes that Healthcare and Professionals working with and supporting people with mental or physical illness, disability, or frailty from aging can help improve communication and develop skills that are learnt from the training like Caregiver-Centered Care Competency Framework found below. This training empowers participants to provide more effective and compassionate support, ultimately improving the quality of life for those they serve."
